1923 Bentley 3 Litre TT Model.
Chasis Number: 296
Registration Number: HB747
Affectionately known as Victoria Plum, this car spent much of its life in the Australian state of Victoria, and is painted a Claret colour as the owners response to British Racing Green Bentleys.
Delivered new to Australia, June 1923 with Weyman-style drophead coupe coachwork, replaced with fixed head coachwork by Marin and King of Melbourne, then with the present TT style body by Roy Ashton, Australia.
Competition use in Australia by brothers Alex and Bill Bryce.
Returned to UK late 1980s.
Bought in 1991 by Mike Smith, chairman of Bentley Drivers Club Northern Region, who carried out a rebuild, trying to make it 'bullet proof while remaining as original as possible.
He competed with it in Bentley Drivers Club and Vintage Sports Car Club events - rallies, sprints, hillclimbs - 1992 - 2012.
History and originality authenticated by Bentley Drivers Club.
A wonderful book on the car comes with it detailing its racing history & indeed a wealth of information on other early 3 litre cars.
The car as we find it today is in impeccable condition & is a superb example of an early 3 litre Bentley built for speed with minimalist rakish coachwork. It has been maintained by the collections in house mechanic without regard to cost & is in superb order covering few miles each year yet being kept on the button ready for immediate use.
This car now resides in a prominent Norhern Irish collection near Belfast where it may be viewed by appointment.
