Vintage & Prestige is proud to offer this stunning example of a 1929 Fiat 514 Lusso.
The Fiat 514 was the flagship medium-sized car made by Fiat at the time. It was produced for a short period of time between 1929 and 1932. The 1929 Fiat 514 produced 28 hp out of a little 1.4L engine.
This Fiat 514 was extensively restored by the late owner, who used to be a well-known engineer and car enthusiast in his area, with a collection of cars that he restored by himself throughout his life.
The Fiat 514 aimed to substitute the now dated Fiat 503, offering great versatility, a spacious cabin and lower insurance costs thanks to the small 1.4L engine. The size of the engine should not be a concern for power, considering that the car only weighs a tonne.
The Lusso version of the Fiat 514 featured a 7-light saloon body, with curtains and a comfortable fabric interior, aluminium dashboard, large trunk and a spare wheel (with leather cover) mounted on the running board.
The car will happily cruise at 40-45 mph and will top out at 55 mph, making for a great town car while not being afraid of long-distance journeys.
Fiat produced less than 40 thousand units of the 514 worldwide, mostly sold in Italy, but also in Spain (built in the Hispano Suiza factories) and Argentina, and only a few of them survived to this day.
This Fiat 514 Lusso was restored to the highest standards but has now sat for a number of years untouched in the late owner's collection, where it’s now being stored, awaiting to be enjoyed by the future owner. Some recommissioning will be needed to get the car moving again. While in storage, the battery has been disconnected, the carburettor covered and the exhaust capped.
Overall the car presents itself beautifully, with shiny paint and unmarked fabric interior. It’s simply stunning in its simplicity and elegant and gentle lines, a car that helped the Italians to get behind the wheel of a car before the Great Depression, now being a fairly rare find, especially in Lusso trim and in this condition.
This 1929 Fiat 514 Lusso can be seen in Padova (IT) by appointment. It is registered for road use in Italy, and European taxes are paid.
