1939 Buick Series 46c Straight Eight Convertible.

Vin Number:  13548839

Registration Number: OSU465

Under previous ownership for some 22 years  from when it was imported to the UK.  A massive nut & bolt restoration was immediately undertaken for which detailed bills & correspondence are on hand documenting the works undertaken.  Post restoration the car has done a number of tours including one in New Zealand covering both islands.

The quality of this car can only be appreciated by actually driving it.  The large 4.5 Litre straight eight engine is a paragon of smoothness starting readily from cold in silence.   Allied to a three speed manual column change gear box it is simply a pleasure to drive & indeed feels like a car from the 1960's rather then a pre war conveyance.  The underside of the car has had a waxoyl treatment applied to it in 2013 to help protect it from the elements.  The engine was fully rebuilt with new Pistons & a re-ground crank etc etc.  After running in the car was taken on a tour to Austria where it was recorded at 85MPH at the red bull circuit.  Subsequent to restoration the car has been maintained & looked after by Horsfields of Halifax.   Drakes of Halifax did the engine rebuild.

The car is finished in its original colour of mid metallic green & presents very well.  The interior is beige including the dickey seat.  There are also two fold out occasional seats  behind the driver & passenger seats allowing for up to 6 people to travel in comfort, or vast quantities of luggage.  The dash board is a prime example of art decco pre war americana.

Driving this car is an amazing experience as it is so smooth & quiet.  It glides down the road in complete silence & exhibits a fair turn of speed when pressed.  The brakes are pin sharp & pull the car up from higher speeds with ease.  This car is an american grand tourer in the full sense  of the word allowing for comfortable pre war high speed travel whilst cosetting the occupants in comfort.  It compares very very favourably to similar pre war Rolls Royce & Bentley Motor cars.
