1955 PORSCHE 356 CONTINENTAL

A true rare collectors item in as new fully restored 100 point condition.

In 1955 North American European car importer Max Hoffman persuaded Porsche that cars with a name sold better in North America. He persuaded Porsche to give their 356 model a name, Continental was settled upon. Only a few hundred were sold by Hoffmann before Ford notified Porsche that they had the rights to the name Continental. Porsche subsequently withdrew the name by the end of 1955, so the Continental was only sold by Hoffman for the 1955 model year and in small numbers making the Continental a very desirable Porsche.

Currently, according to the Porsche 356 Continental registry less than a hundred are known to still be in existence.

This 356, (pre A as they have come to be known as) is the Knickscheibe, or bent screen model.

A complete restoration of this car, including braking system, suspension, mechanical, bodywork and interior was completed in 2023, finished in the original specification of silver with red leather interior as confirmed by a copy of the Kardex for the car.

The dash is finished in Turkish Red with ivory switches and steering wheel. A period Becker radio is fitted with FM reception. A matching numbers car complete with tool kit and jack. A truly fine example of a rare car.

The car is available for viewings by appointment in Northern Ireland.  It may however be purchased with complete confidence sight unseen & we can arrange world wide shipping.
