1930 Rolls Royce Phantom 2 Sports Saloon by Thrupp & Maberly.

Chassis number: 3GN

Registration Number: BF5008

A wonderful period ensmble of 1930 Rolls Royce Phantom 2 & period 1931 Guildford caravan.  The Rolls Royce was supplied new to New Zealand.  The body is its second body, by Thrupp & Maberly moved across from another car when the first body had deteriorated.  The body takes the form of a rakish yet spacious sports saloon, resplendent in pillar box red with an aluminium bonnet.  To the interior is good oxblood leather.

The caravan is a 1931 Guildford caravan mounted to the Phantom on a tow bar.  The Phantom pulls the caravan effotlessly & one really does not know it is there with 60 MPH cruising easily attained where allowed.

The Phantom runs stongly & we drove it back to the UK from  near Belfast.  Being overdrive equipped it is very relaxed at speed & simply a pleasure to drive.  It has been in long term ownership, with supplying dealer P & A Wood showing as the previous owners on the V5 log book.  It runs cool with good oil pressure & has a real go anywhere feel to it.

The Guildford caravan is a delight with fold down double bed, cooking stove, opening leaded windows along with a full set or period crockery, kettles and other acoutrements.

The Two many be purchased separtely with the caravan being £18k & the Phantom £108k.  But really, as a pair, what a wonderful way to attend Goodwood, Beaulieu, Ascot or for that matter any other event at all.   The Jones' cannot fail but to be impressed.
