1934 Rolls Royce Phantom II Gurney Nutting Sports Saloon

Chassis number: 135RY

Registration: Swedish (EU) registration number EXZ751 (old English registration number YSY 819)

Location: The car is located in Gothenburg, Sweden for inspection

A really beautiful Sports Saloon with division by J. Gurney Nutting. The first owner was the famous Sir Gordon Richards, considered to be the world's greatest jockey and racehorse trainer ever. He ordered the car from H.R. Owen on 1934-02-28 and it was delivered on 1934-06-23.

The car has just had a major engine rebuild including a new head, new pistons, line bored crank shaft & new cam followers completed by marque specialists Classics Restoration Services of Chichester. The engine is still being run in & will provide many years of silent trouble free motoring.

The car is finished in a very fetching colour scheme of silver over black with the paint all being excellent. To the front is pale grey leather in excellent order complimented by velour to the rear. The car has lots of burr walnut all of which is in fine order.

The coachwork is an Art Deco design by A.F. McNeil with lowered F-steering column. It is very balanced with rakish lines in the extreme with a long louvred bonnet sweeping back to a low roof line & angled boot with the spare rear mounted. This gives the car a continental look without actually being one. Indeed, the extra space is very very welcome making for comfortable capacious seating compared to some short chassis cars I have recently driven. The car has been owned by a Rolls Royce enthusiast and RREC member in Sweden and has won several important awards such as concours d'elegance competitions in Scandinavia.

All in all a particularly pretty car which make a statement wherever it appears.  The car is well known to us having been sold by us previously too the current owner allowing us to attest to its quality.
