1925 Rolls Royce Phantom 1

Chassis number:  17RC

Registration Number: OR8991

This Rolls Royce Phantom 1 has a beautiful aluminium body by no lesser company then celebrated dealers Jack Barclay & Co.  A large original bill & estimate dated April of 1961 comes with the car detailing the works to be undertaken & is really well worth reading.  It includes construction of the body in best quality hardwoods clad in aluminium pannelling.

A mass of period bills come with the car from the likes of Jonathan Harley & Coldwell Engineering.  Shortly after this the car was laid up in a barn by the then owner & slumbered there for several  decades in dry storage.  There are detailed bills for the crank grinding, white metalling etc etc etc to put the engine into tip top order.  A full set of pictures of the engine in its various stages of reassembly come with the car.

Later in its life (August 1993-April 1994) specialists S Brunt (Silverdale, Staffs) carried out a complete engine rebuild including a crank regrind and balance, rebore, white metaling, top end rebuild, clutch linings etc. S Brunt subsequently used OR 8991 at the 1994 RREC national rally to show the high quality of their work. All receipts, communications and photos of the work are contained in the history file. The Phantom is fitted with high quality Carl Zeiss headlights, CAV divers helmet sidelights and tail lights. The red leather upholstery is complimented by the matching embossed door cards.

The red leather in the car is in excellent condition & is being re-dyed to add colour.  The exterior cream paint is older with some light patination but very presentable.

This car drives simply superbly with a strong silent engine.  I drove it recently 50 miles down the M1 motorway at an effortless 70MPH GPS verified.  Moreover the steering is fingertip light & is possibly the lightest steering on any Phantom 1 I have driven.  At speed the temperature does not go over 65 degrees.  Oil pressure is excellent between 25 & 30 lbs.

This is a beautifully proportioned car  rebodied when 35 years old by the worlds then foremost Rolls Royce Dealer. We have added a wonderful period 4 place Sirram picnic set which  adorns the rear & is available by separate negotiation.

A run of MOTs covering the periods 1981-1986 and 1991-2005 record the years of regular use and the SORN documents for 2006 onwards back up the period that the Phantom has lain dormant.

Ths car has just come out of a full service done by Marque specialists Kenworthy & Co so is fully ready for the summer season.  You really have to drive it to appreciate how well it runs & drives.
