1936 Derby Bentley 4.25 Litre Slipstream Saloon by William Arnold
Chassis number: B-39-GP
Registration Number: CVM134
A lovely example of a Derby Bentley with pleasant patination & cellulose very dark inky blue paintwork. We feel the coachwork on this car is way ahead of the more mundane & common Park ward examples, not to mention that it is aluminium rather then steel. This car was owned for close to 30 years by the late Douglas Reece, revered guru and Registrar of the RREC Derby Bentley Register. The car comes with a huge file of paperwork, including some fabulous early documents from the 1930s and 1940s, invoices from the 1950s & 1960s, together with many, many more from the former owner's custodianship of 27 years.
The car is just back from a major service so is absolutley ready to go & be extensively used; the car having a strong "go anywhere" feel to it. The engine is storng quiet & powerful providing ample go. Some of the work carried out includes engine and gearbox overhaul, new cylinder head, conversion to high ratio rear axle, steering box rebuild, a full re-paint in cellulose, re-upholstery in Connolly leather and much more besides. You really have to read though the bills on this car to appreciate how much has been done to it in the last few years. Every single thing that could be done mechanically has been done. The result is a strong silent engine with very high oil pressure & runniing cool at 60 to 70 degrees.
To the interior is dark blue Connoly leather & blue Carpets along with very nicely figured walnut to the dash board which has been removed & refinished. The seats are in super order & provide very comfortable seating. The door cards are finished in similar leather. The car is equipped with a large sunshine roof. Original Ace wheel discs are fitted all round & the spare wheel is found in the boot. In common with all William Arnold slip steam saloons, the rear window is tinted yellow.
A massive bill file comse with the car dating back to the 1930's. Bills for work done start in 1958 & are continuous right up to the present day. Indeed it is rare to find a car with such a full & comprehansive service history.
