1953 Bentley R Type Special
Chassis number: B506TN
Registration number: FRS435
This R type was constructed by famed Bentley Builder Alan Padgett. The body takes the form of a very rakish full on Mr Toad style Boat tail in the style of edwardian racers. It is constructed from Aluminium & comes with detachable cycle style mudguard wings for winter use.
The car has had proper WO style 21" wheels fabricated for it which are shod with 4 new Blockley tyres giving the car the correct proportions to look right. These are secured with knock off spinners.
The car is finished in a very dark shade of green which suits it admirably. To the interior are green leather seats in as new condition. A useful luggage area can be accessed behind the seats for soft bags or a decent sized suitcase. The dash is a turned aluminium affair with large WO style speedometer & Tachometer.
This is a well sorted car that fires up instantly & has very ample performance given the lightweight of the body. The exhaust is a straight though affair exiting the passenger side of the car & running down the side of the body. A single side mount spare affixes to the drivers side of the car.
This car is a pleasure to drive & appears much older then it is. One has an excellent view from behind the twin aero screens of the road ahead & the large wheels may be very accurately positioned to just miss kerbs etc when pressing on. It drives particularly well & is tremendous fun to fling down B roads on sunny days. When parked it needless to say gathers a crowd of onlookers, having real presence even when standing still.
