1947 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith Freestone & Webb 2 door Coupe.
Chassis number: WVA74
Registration number: EJ-851-ZB (French).
One of the very first post war Silver Wraiths delivered to the UK; this car wears stunning 2 door coupé coachwork by noted builder Freestone & Webb to a one off design. The car has been subject to a fastidious rebuild by a technician who trained at Franco Britannic motors post war, otherwise known as Rolls Royce Paris.
No stone has been left unturned in the restoration process. The paint is masons black with primrose yellow in perfect order & done to a very high standard. Interior hides are beige Connolly with axminster carpets & deep pile lambswool over rugs. All woodwork has been removed & refinished to a mirror like shine.
The seat backs have both picnic tables & separate cocktail cabinets. New headlining has been installed in correct West of England fawn wool cloth. The large sunroof slides easily open affording semi alfresco motoring.
Under the bonnet the car is highly detailed down to the correct new/old stock spark plug leads. The engine has had a full rebuild with reground crank & was also bored out to the later 4.9 litre specification at which time brand new pistons were fitted. As a result the car runs in silence at modern motorway speeds with a smooth silent powerful engine.
The quality of this restoration is a credit to the current French owner who has approached the restoration with a money no object attitude.
Upon competion the car was driven to a concours in St Tropez which it handily won. The engine is still being run in & we have put 100 or so gentle running in miles upon the car since it arrived. The car runs with excellent oil pressure & the water temperature remains at a constant 60 to 70 degrees whilst driving.
